There is another ‘son rise’ on the horizon of Samajwadi Party. This time it is Abdullah Azam, the youngest son of Minority Affairs Minister Azam Khan. The young Khan is likely to make his political debut by contesting the 2017 Assembly polls from Swar Tanda seat in Rampur.

The Swar Tanda seat is presently held by Congress’ Nawab Kazim Ali Khan, a scion of the erstwhile royal family of Rampur and is a sworn rival of Azam Khan. But recently, Nawab Kazim defected to the BSP.

Abdullah Azam is an M Tech and has already started door-to-door campaign in the constituency seeking support of the people for the Assembly polls. He is presently the CEO of Jauhar University, Rampur, which was founded by his father.

Abdullah will be the third member of the family of the senior SP leader from Rampur to have emtered politics. Besides his father Azam Khan, his mother Tanjeem Fatima is a Rajya Sabha member of the SP.

launching his son formally at a rally at Swar Tanda on Saturday, Azam Khan announced that Abdullah would contest the next election from the local seat. But hastened to add that an official announcement would be made by party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.

At the public meeting, Khan and his son gave a fiery speech asking the people to support the SP as it had done record work for the people of the area and also for the State.

In his address, Azam Khan launched a scathing attack on the media and used unparliamentary words. Khan was perturbed over the appearance of his photo with a person with shady past, who was arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with a sex racket.

Khan did not forget to launch a board side against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and criticised him for visiting Pakistan and meeting his counterpart Nawaz Sharif and touching the feet of his mother.

“If I am made the PM of India then Pakistan occupied Kashmir will be the part of India. But weak leaders can never accomplish this task,” said Khan.
