In a gruesome incident, a 10-year-old boy was killed by strangulation allegedly by his father’s sister at Kaippuzha near Neendoor in Kerala’s Kottayam district on Tuesday morning. The aunt, Vijayamma, is said to have killed the boy, Rahul, with the intention of speeding up the separation of her brother, the boy’s father, from his wife.
The shocking incident took place at 2.30 am on Tuesday. Vijayamma, already taken into custody by police, had reportedly killed Rahul, the only son of Shaji of Nedumthottiyil and wife Bindu, by strangulating him using a rope. Rahul was staying with Shaji’s father and mother at Kaippuzha. Shaji, an NRI, and wife Bindu had been living separately for the past few years and local residents said that they were in the process of getting divorced. Vijayamma, who had reached her brother’s place the other day, told the police that she committed the brutal act in order to “save” her brother Shaji from Bindu.
Vijayamma her informed the police of the murder. Bindu, a nurse, has been staying at a hostel. Vijayamma reportedly told the police that Rahul was the only hindrance for the separation of Shaji from Bindu, who had reportedly begun showing signs of mental disturbance after the birth of Rahul.
