Though a section of the medical fraternity and media are agog with expectations of a major breakthrough in developing a vaccine to fight and neutralise the dreaded coronavirus, veteran medical scientists and doctors (both modern and Indian systems) are of the view that it is doomed to fail.
What is shocking is that Mike Adams, popularly known as Health Ranger, has said in his medical journal that coronavirus vaccine would not work and might actually create more new viruses through recombination in human hosts.
“Any vaccine for the Wuhan coronavirus would actually create more viruses inside people’s bodies, making the situation worse than it already is,” says Adams in his research report.
A team of researchers led by Helena Jane Maier of Pirbright Institute, UK had said in a scientific paper published in the journal Coronaviruses (of the Nature Publishing Group) in 2015 itself that attempts to develop a vaccine for coronavirus would end up in failure. “Over the past 50 years the emergence of many different coronaviruses that cause a wide variety of human and veterinary diseases has occurred. It is likely that these viruses will continue to emerge and to evolve and cause both human and veterinary outbreaks owing to their ability to recombine, mutate, and infect multiple species and cell types,” said Jane Maier and her team.
This was also substantiated by the 15 year long research by Dr Remya Krishna and Dr Raj Kumar, associate professors at Rajiv Gandhi Ayurveda Medical College, Mahe, Government of Puducherry. Dr Remya told The Pioneer on Saturday that it would not be an easy task to develop a vaccine for coronavirus. “We have found from our research that a vaccine may succeed in neutralising the virus which case pandemics but the same virus would reappear in more virulent form in another name to claim more lives. Results of our studies prove that any kind of pandemic, let it be fever or other contagious disease, could be cured by finding the root cause of the disease and prescribing the medicine as per the protocol mentioned in the great Indian books Charaka Samhita, Aashtamga Samgraham , Susrutha Samhita etc,” said Dr Remya, a native of Thalassery in Kerala.
Dr Raj Kumar has authored a book by name Unveiling The Truths in Ayurveda based on the research held by the husband-wife duo. According to Dr Kumar, all varieties of pandemic, swine flu, bird flu or covid-19 break out in the body when the host person loses the power of immunity. “It is by addressing this weakness and strengthening the immunity power of the body we can fortify a person against corona virus or any other disease,” said Dr Raj Kumar.
Dr B Rajeeve, Perumbavoor based Ayurvedic physician who has been collaborating with Remya-Raj Kumar duo in their research said that it was possible to identify any kind of fever in the initial stage itself based on Ayurvedic principles and decide the treatment protocol. “Till date we have not encountered any failure,” said Dr Rajeeve.
The Pioneer had reported earlier that the Union Government has been cold shouldering the Ayurveda branch of medicine in its fight against coronavirus. Prof BM Hegde and Dr C V Krishnaswamy has expressed their agony over the step-motherly treatment of Ayurveda by powers that be. “The vaccine which they claim to be on the verge of marketing is nothing new but another version of Ebola vaccine which had failed. I do not think it is going to be a success. What happened to earlier vaccines and tablets like Tamiflu? Cochrane Review which analyses and studies medical research findings had ruled that Tamiflu and Oseltamvir were not advisable because of side effects,” said Dr Krishnaswamy.
Both Prof Hegde and Krishnaswamy said that 55 per cent of the companies manufacturing vaccines are owned by a billionaire businessman. “This philanthropist had approached me while I was the chairman of the Bihar State Health Society’s Expert Committee with an offer to donate hundreds of million dollars to treat the kala-azar disease. “I told this man that Kala-azar could be eradicated by a neat house without crevices to prevent the carrier sand fly from breeding during the rains and better nutrition. Hence we lost the money,” said Prof Hegde.
This is yet another proof of virus-vaccine- industry axis ruling the roost, according to the septuagenarian cardiologist.
