(): The ‘benami’ properties of Atiq Ahmed worth Rs  12.5 crore will soon be attached under provisions of the Gangsters Act. Paper work for property attachment is almost complete. Atiq had purchased a huge plot of land of 23,447 sq mt in Ghauspur Katahula near Prayagraj airport in the name of a construction labour in 2015. The police had recovered papers related to registry of the above plot from Vibhuti Khand flat of Lucknow.  When the papers were scrutinised, it was found that the land was purchased at the rate which was much below the circle rate of the area. Land worth over Rs 12 crore was purchased for Rs 2 crore. The labour, who gets Rs 400 to 500 per day, spilled the beans and told the police that actually the above property belonged to Atiq.
