In what was likely to provide added impetus to the BJP’s organisational causes the saffron party had decided immerse the ashes of late former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to five different places of Bengal.
State party president Dilip Ghosh on Wednesday reached with the urn of Vajpayee’s ashes which was taken in a procession to the State party office from where they will be taken to various locations of the State from Thursday, sources said.
While some of the ashes will be taken on Thursday for immersion at Ganga Sagar in South 24 Parganas district, some others will be taken to be immersed in River Mahananda at Siliguri in Darjeeling district, River Ganga-Saraswati at Triveni in Hooghly district, River Bhagirathi (Ganga) at Nabadwip in Nadia district and River Ganga at Farakka in Malda district of the State Ghosh said.
