Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar managed to get yet another feather in his legendary cap unknowingly though. The ‘Master Blaster’ of  Indian cricket who retired a few days ago achieved what many a legend in other fields failed in the past several years.

Ruling Trinamool Congress and Opposition Marxists, the two main outfits bitterly at war against each in the State, on Tuesday decided to unite in the name of the Indian batting legend even as the State Assembly unanimously passed a resolution congratulating Tendulkar for his illustrious cricketing career.

Claiming that awarding Tendulkar with the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna was first mooted by CM Mamata Banerjee, Bengal Industry Minister Partho Chatterjee who moved the Tuesday’s resolution said “the Assembly on Tuesday unanimously decided to congratulate Tendulkar for his extraordinary feat” adding a Secretary on behalf of the State would reach the communication to the master blaster in Mumbai.

Chatterjee said, “The WB Government had planned an elaborate felicitation programme for Sachin but for the early ending of the match.” A chopper had been hired to shower rose petals from the sky apart from other functions Government sources said adding Windies’ poor show let the grand plans go kaput.
