Assam Rifles' JCO killed along Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur

In what may be termed as a setback to the security forces, the suspected cadres of the People’s liberation Army (PlA) on Monday killed a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of Assam Rifles at a remote location along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur. An Assam Rifles spokesman said this today and added the incident took place at a remote location under Kamjong subdivision of Ukhrul district in the troubled State. The PlA is the armed wing of the banned Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), one of the major militant groups operating in Manipur.

“A group of suspected PlA militants ambushed a convoy of the 44 Assam Rifles in the area. The militant first triggered three powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and then started indiscriminate firing at the security forces, injuring the JCO seriously. He gave in to his injuries after sometime,” said the AR spokesman.
