At a time when the country is working on a formula to check the population growth across the country, a lok Sabha MP from Assam has appealed everyone in Assam, particularly to the Hindu families to give birth to at least three children to save the State, language and culture of Assamese people.
lok Sabha MP from Tezpur constituency, RP Sarma has appealed to the Hindu families in Assam to have at least three children for the sake of ensuring safety to the people of Assam, their language and culture. Sarma said this while addressing a function at Bihampur in Nalbari district of Assam last night.
“I have asked Nalbari MlA Ashok Sarma about his children. He told me that he has got three children. I said good…everyone in Assam, particularly the Hindus must give birth to at least three children and only then we would be in a position to save the State, Assamese language and culture,” said Sarma.
“You all can see what is happening here. We have already lost some of the districts…The Hindus must give birth to three children at least and only then we would be able to save our State and own house,” he said while appreciating BJP legislator from Nalbari, Ashok Sarma.
Although Sarma did not mention anything about from whom he wants to save the state and Assam’s language and culture, one could well imagine that he was referring to the illegal infiltration from Bangladesh and the BJP led State Government’s concern over the issue of infiltration.
Sarma had earlier drawn media attention in Assam last month by saying that he would be able to solve the Kashmir issue within six months time.
“I think I would be able to solve the Kashmir issue if the Central Government give the power to me. I believe that I shall be able to solve the problem in six months,” said the Tezpur MP while addressing a meeting last month.
On asked about his strategy to solve the Kashmir issue, Sarma, however, refused to divulge the details and only said, “I believe I can solve the issue but I cannot divulge the strategy at this moment,” he had said.
Sarma, a lawyer turned politician, further said that he is a patriotic person and that he loves his country more than his child.
Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president, Ripun Bora, however, slammed the statement of Sarma and said that these kinds of irresponsible statements does not suit a parliamentarian and that he has a habit of making trivial comments to draw media attention.
“These kinds of statements demean the position he held. And if he seriously believes what he had said, he should take it up in the parliament and not in public meetings,” said Bora.
