Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Monday said that Arunachal Pradesh will get a battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) while a new battalion will be set up in Varanasi. “I have requested the State Governments to provide land required for setting up of the force,” Rijiju said, while adding that the proposed NDRF battalion will cater to disasters in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur. “There is already a battalion in Assam and it would now respond to disasters in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram,” Rijiju said.
