Although the Army’s Northern Command has issued a global tender for procuring latest snow mobiles which will ensure better mobility for jawans and intensified patrolling in the snow-bound areas of ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, veteran top brass opined that the renovation, maintenance and upgradation of equipments and weapons should be done intensively for keeping a tap on cross border terrorism.
In an exclusive interaction with The Pioneer, Brig (Retd) KG Behl said that the Indian Army decision to procure 20 snow mobiles for the Army units deployed in Northern Command theatre in J&K is surely a welcome step but the defence forces should spend more budget on renovation and modernization.
Various cases of infringement of ceasefire along the international boundaries were reported in the last few months, which is surely a cause of concern for the security forces. The only depredation of the slower RMU (Renovation, Modernisation and Upgradation) is that several cases of infiltration will keep rising in the near future also.
He said that although the Indian defence forces keeping a strict vigil along the international border, the latest equipments and machineries will strictly reduce the cross border infiltration.
