Releasing his mid term appraisal at the Raj Bhawan here Naik expressed his concern on the neglect and inactiveness of the SP Government who did nothing against the political leaders and officials who were found guilty in corruption by lokayukta.
“Of the total 53 special report by lokayukt against corruption of political leaders and officials, UP Government did not take cognizance of 51 reports which is raising big questions,” Governor said in his report.
He even named politicians like BSP leaders Nasimuddin Siddique , Ram Achal Rajbhar and Awadh Pal Singh Yadav who had been spared by the present Gvernment.
He even raked up the issue of the State Government preventing the CAG to audit the accounts of Ghaziabad Development Authority.” I have complained to the President Pranab Mukherjee about the issue,” he said.
Naik said that he had written to the State Government to publish a white paper on the encourchment of Government land and how much the Government incurred financial loss to this illegal act.” But till date there is no response from the Government ,” he added.
The Governor in detail gave about his activities during the past two and half year of his term.
When asked about his role if there is a hung assembly, he said, “I will act as per the Constitutional norms through it is a hypothical question.”
However he appealed to the people to vote enmass and the voting percentage should be at least above 60 per cent.” In the last two elections the voting percentage did not touch 60 per cent which is unfortunate which seems that 40 per cent were not using their right of franchise,” he said.
The Governor also refused to comment on Mohammad Azam Khan about his attack on Rajbhawan. “I prefer to refrain from speaking on this leader,” he said.
When his attention was drawn on the infighting withing the SP, the Governor said, “it is an intra- party controversy and it has nothing to do with me. I had kept a close watch on the issue.”
