Andhra Pradesh legislative Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution appreciating the initiative of the NDA Government at the Centre to flush out black money and curb the corruption.

However, the acrimonious exchanges between the ruling TDP and main Opposition YSR Congress Party on who was corrupt marred the discussion on the resolution, moved by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The resolution urged the Centre to take further action to bring back the black money kept in the foreign banks and should be used for the welfare and development of the country.

Speaking on the resolution Naidu alleged that the corruption had undermined the country’s economy. “The State supports all the efforts of the Centre to flush out the black money and curb the corruption”, he said.Earlier the leader of opposition Jaganmohan Reddy tried to target Naidu over the issue of corruption and alleged that some parties had indulged in huge expenditure in the recent polls.

“I don’t know if it is called black money, but if you go to constituencies, people will explain who spent how much,” said Jagan. He also alleged that probe was launched in to allegations of corruption against Naidu but he got them stalled on technical and other grounds. In this context he also referred to the diaries of alleged Hawala kigpin Hasan Ali which reportedly talks of delivering money to two Chief Ministers for the 2004 elections.“If you are serious about black money you should get an inquiry done in to the Ali diaries as well and establish the truth”, Jaganmohan Reddy said.

His reference to Naidu evoked a strong protest from the treasury benches and legislative Affairs Minister Y Ramakrishna went on an offensive against Jagan. He said Jagan talking of corruption was like devil quoting thescriptures.

In a counter attack on Jagan and his alleged corruption, Yanamala said, “is there any other member in the House who spent 16 months in JailIJ Is there any other member whose properties worth Rs1,100 crore were attached by Enforcement DirectorateIJ Is there any other members against whom charges of amassing Rs1 lakh crore are leveledIJ Is there any other member against whom the CBI filed charge-sheets alleging corruption to the tune of Rs43,000 crore,” he asked.
