A day after Congress president Sonia Gandhi permitted Oommen Chandy, who is accused by the Kerala Opposition of involvement in the solar power scam to continue as Chief Minister, Defence Minister AK Antony said that no discussions were going on in the party about a Cabinet reshuffle in the State.
There were rumours that the Congress high command might go for a Cabinet reshuffle in Kerala as a measure to improve the image of the Government that was tarnished due to the solar scam but Antony refuses any such orders from superiors. "There would be no change of rule or leadership. Controversies are natural when a party is in power. What the Government should do is to go ahead by taking lessons from such controversies," Antony told newsmen in Kochi on Sunday, adding that nobody should expect Chandy to resign. "The Opposition should not hope to expel the Chief Minister through agitations," he said.
On the image of the Kerala Government due to the solar scam, Antony said that he was no judge to make such observations. "There are no problems in Kerala that cannot be solved here. And if there are any problems that cannot be solved here, there is the high command," he said.
