Coinciding with the Assam police’s determination to monitor the social media, anti-talk faction of the United liberation front of Asom (Ulfa) has joined the facebook to make its presence felt on social media.

The anti-talk faction of the Ulfa led by its Commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah alias Paresh Asom has announced to have joined facebook and said that the outfit will now communicate through the social net working site.

“The basic idea behind our joining the facebook is not to entertain but to share the routine happenings of the outfit,” said a statement issued today. The statement said that the idea to start the Facebook page was given by well-wishers.

The development assumes significance as it took place at a time when the Assam police have decided to monitor the social media to stop spreading of hate messages. The Assam police have also created a separate cell to monitor the social media .

It may be mentioned here that the Assam police have recently arrested 36 people for spreading hate messages over the brutal lynching of two youths by a mob in Karbi Anglong district of Assam.

“While police have been stressing on human intelligence gathering to monitor the social networking sites police have also instituted a separate team headed by Additional DGP Harmeet Singh to strengthen cyber patrolling,” said Assam Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia.

He said that the police have already initiated necessary action to close the facebook page of the outfit.
