The Centre has decided to recruit over 2,000 ex-Armymen with experience in jungle warfare tactics and counter-IED operations to impart cutting-edge training to CRPF personnel engaged in anti-Naxal operations across the affected States.
This is the second time that the world’s biggest paramilitary force is recruiting the ex-servicemen on such a scale for training roles after the first such exercise in 2011.
The total vacancies advertised recently by the Central Reserve Police Force are for 2,037 personnel who have retired as Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs)
The perks and salaries for the JCOs and NCOs have been made attractive with a monthly package of Rs 55,000 for the former and Rs 35,000 for the latter.
According to the prescribed eligibility norms, the ex-servicemen will be drawn from Army regiments and Corps like infantry, armoured, artillery, bomb disposal and engineering for the purpose.
In order to ensure that the CRPF personnel get the best training, the Government has made it mandatory for these ex-servicemen to be trained in specialised courses like commando training, weapons, IED and bomb disposal, dog handling, Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare (CIJW).
Officials said the ex-servicemen with vast experiences in counter-insurgency operations will impart the CRPF officers and men with value knowledge that will help the paramilitary personnel in tackling highly militarised ultra-left extremism.
The ex-Army personnel will have to serve in Naxal-affected areas and they will be taken on contract for a period ranging between 3-5 years. CRPF has deployed more than 85,000 personnel for anti-Naxal operations throughout the Naxal corridor spread over a number of States.
