Even as the Telangana police were investigating an international kidney racket with the arrest of 4 persons including a victim turned broker, another victim of the gang has come to light.

Naresh, a B Tech student of Khammam district studying in Hyderabad has lodged a complaint with the police that the gang had stolen his kidney in the city.

Naresh, a resident of Naidupet village in Sattupally of Khammam district, has told the police that he was promised a hefty amount of compensation if he comes to Sri lanka and donates his kidney for a patient. But the gang cheated him and removed his kidney in a Hyderabad hotel by giving him sedatives in a hotel room.

Naresh was being questioned at the office of Deputy Superintendent of Police in Khammam to identify the culprits and the place where he was taken to in Hyderabad.

The racket was busted after Nalgonda district police arrested a 22 year old K Suresh who had sold his kidney for Rs5 lakh in 2014 and later turned a broker for a Sri lanka based racket wooing the potential sellers.

Police investigations revealed that the gang was operating through social media including a website to find the kidney sellers for a handsome amount. However, after the racket was busted the website www.ineedkidney.com had become non-operational.

Investigators have found that Suresh had trapped 15 people from Nalgonda, Hyderabad and other places and their kidneys were removed at three hospitals in Colombo, Nawaloak, Western and lankan hospitals. Suresh was paid Rs50,000 to Rs1 lakh per kidney for his services as a broker. The other three arrested along with Suresh were identified as P Mahesh, K Naresh and Abdul Hafeez, a suspended Government employee. Some of the victims of the gang were residents of Bengaluru and Chennai, police said.

Nalgonda district superintendent of police VK Duggal said that a case was under section 120 of IPC and section 18 and 19 of AP Transplantation of Organs Act was booked and search was on for the kingpins of the racket.
