In yet another major setback to the Congress Government in Andhra Pradesh, its senior Minister J Geeta Reddy has been named among one of the accused in a chargesheet filed by the CBI in Jaganmohan Reddy’s disproportionate assets case.

The CBI filed two more chargesheets in the special court in Hyderabad in connection with two different cases. One chargesheet in Indu-lepakshi Knowledge Hub case, names Jaganmohan Reddy, his financial adviser Vijay Sai Reddy, IAS officer BP Acharya and Shyamprasad Reddy of Indu Group as the accused.

In the second chargesheet in Indo Tech Zone near Shamshabad in Ranga Reddy district, name of major Industries Minister J Geeta Reddy has been included as accused no. 9. Similarly former Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasad Rao, two IAS officers Samuel and BP Acharya have also been included.

The YS Rajasekhara Reddy Government had allotted 8,848 acres of land in Anantapur district to Indu Group for setting up a knowledge hub. The CBI said that in exchange of this favour, Indu Group had invested Rs 70 crore in companies owned by Jaganmohan Reddy. In the other case, the Government had allotted 250 acres of prime land to Indu group.

Geeta Reddy is the latest addition to the list of Ministers against whom charges of favouring CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s son Jaganmohan Reddy have been leveled.

Earlier three Ministers Mopidevi Venkatramanna, Dharmana Prasad Rao and Sabita Indra Reddy had to quit after their names were included in the chargesheet. Now pressure was likely to mount on Geeta Reddy to do the same.

Mopdievi Venkat Ramanna who was in jail since last year, was granted an interim bail till October 31 by the CBI special court on health grounds. He has been asked to surrender on November 1.
