Send at least 100 representatives of farmers to Parliament in the 2019 elections (five years later) who can decide who will be the Prime Minister and can address plight of the farmers in the country,” said anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare while addressing thousands of farmers at a meeting organised by the Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) here on Tuesday.
Anna said the farmers might not get success in the current 2014 elections, but they should get ready to send farmers' representatives to lok Sabha in the 2019 or 2024 polls. Though the farmers can't send all the lok Sabha members, they can send at least 100 representatives who can choose a farmer-loving candidate as the Prime Minister, he said.
The Gandhian activist called upon people to participate in a second freedom movement for changes in the present degenerating system. “We have to change the trend and the movement has begun from Odisha,” he declared. He urged people not to vote for the corrupt and criminal leaders and choose the candidates carefully while casting votes as every party has its share of criminal leaders.“Now our country is ruled by a few political parties instead of the people themselves,” said Hazare. “Today there is no loktantra (rule of people) but Partytantra (rule by parties) in the country,” he lamented.
