Anandiben tells officials to use common man's language

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel on Sunday called on to bring simplification in the State administration in order to provide better facilities to common man and suggested senior Government functionaries to come out from routine monotonous traditions of Government resolutions and circulars. Addressing the senior Government functionaries on the last and final day of three-day long 8th ‘Chintan Shivir’ at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Patel suggested reviewing implementation of decisions taken during the Shivir every three months.
Chintan Shivir — an annual brainstorming exercise for Council of Ministers, senior IAS and IPS officers and other important Government functionaries was the idea of Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was Gujarat Chief Minister in order to make the State administration efficient and proactive. It was initiated in the year 2003 and used to take place regularly till the year 2011. However, since last four years Chintan Shivir didn’t take place, but Modi’s successor and protégé made it a point to conduct Chintan Shibir as part of her Government’s campaign of ‘Gatisheel Gujarat’.
Stressing on utilising simple language in Government resolutions and other communication, she said that simple language should be used in Government communication so that even a farmer of a remotest village can also understand what the Government wants to do. She said that the outcome of the Shivir should be implemented effectively to make Gujarat a role model in administration for other States in the country.
The 8th Chintan Shivir was focused on the development of social sector and the Chief Minister asked the Government officials to become messenger of social awareness. During the closing ceremony, those district collectors and district development officers (DDO), who performed extraordinarily in different sectors, were felicitated by ‘Karmayogi’ awards. There were four categories for DDOs and collectors that include urban areas, new district, tribal areas and other districts.
