In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government at the Centre, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel declared a 100-day agenda for her Government on Monday.

Patel had convened a meeting of her council of Ministers, senior bureaucrats, collectors and District Development Officers (DDO) and laid stress on good governance and insisted on officials to focus on 11 major initiatives, including women's empowerment, nutrition, cleanliness, public services, employment generation, urban development, training to State Government employees, education etc, for the next hundred days. Co-incidentally, the first woman Chief Minister of the State completed one month after she succeeded Modi on May 22, 2014.

Right from day one, Patel has been trying to focus on social and human development areas; at the same time, she is pushing forward the initiative taken by the previous Modi Government. In this process, she has not only aimed to carve her niche, but has also been trying to come out of her predecessor’s shadow.

During the meeting, Anandiben stressed on decentralisation of administration, follow-up and monitoring of the State Government’s programme in order to create better living conditions even in the remotest village of Gujarat.

Meanwhile, the State Government spokespersons and senior ministers Nitin Patel and Saurabh Patel said that as many as 100 lok Samvad (dialogue with people) would be organised at the block level, 20,000 vacant posts in the State administration will also be filled and 347 employment fairs (Rozgar Bharti Mela) will be conducted with a view to generate 75,000 jobs in the next 100 days.

As far as education is concerned, the State Government is planning to introduce e-learning across 500 smart schools and launch a drive for cleanliness across all schools in the State. On the cleanliness front, the Patel Government has already launched sanitation drive and announced to complete 50,000 personal toilets and approve 85,000 toilets in the next 100 days in rural areas.
