The memorial, named “Gopinath Gad”, has been developed on a plot of land located in the vicinity of the Vaidyanath Co-operative Sugar factory set up by late Munde at Parli in Beed district of Marathwada region.

The memorial comprises the “Samadhi”, 22-feet full-length statue of late Munde, a spacious lotus-shaped prayer hall, a theme park and a guidance centre for students appearing for competitive examinations.

While a Pune-based private firm has developed the memorial, the full length statute of late Munde has been sculpted by an artiste from Kolhapur. The work on developing a memorial for Mumde, who passed away in a road accident in New Delhi on June 3, 2014, had begun last year.

State Rural Development Minister Pankaja Munde, who is considered the political heir of her late father, had taken up the initiative of setting up the memorial for the BJP leader.
