The campaign of the National Democratic Alliance in Tamil Nadu for the upcoming Lok Sabha election commenced on Wednesday at Kancheepuram near Chennai with an electrifying speech by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

But while the Prime Minister was inaugurating multiple development projects minutes before the rally, the DMDK, a prospective ally of the AIADMK-led front was in “multiple talks” with the DMK for a better deal. Sudheesh, brother-in-law of Vijayakanth, reportedly contacted Durai Murugan, the DMK treasurer with a request to include the DMDK in the UPA. This was disclosed by Murugan himself while speaking to reporters and this has put the DMDK as well as the NDA in a tight spot.

The Prime Minister in his 30 minutes long speech lambasted the Maha Ghatbandhan formed by the Opposition parties by describing it as a platform built on hate Modi campaign. “The Opposition’s hatred for  Narendra Modi is reaching new levels. There is a competition among the leaders of various Opposition parties in abusing and hating Modi. Who will abuse Modi more is the theme of the contest. Someone will make fun of my poor origins, someone will make fun of my parents, some others are making fun of lower caste origin,” thundered Modi. The Prime Minister pointed out that the ate Modi campaign reached new level the other day with a Congress leader speaking of killing him. “I am not bothered about it. For me,my country stands first and the people are my strength, Every drop of my blood in my veins and every second of my life has been dedicated to the 130 crore Indians. A strong and powerful India is my life’s mission,” said the Prime Minister addressing the rally which was attended by leaders of all constituent parties in the AIADMK-led front.

Modi came down heavily on the Congress for insulting and humiliating former Congress chief and Chief Minister of the State K Kamaraj. “Congress hs this habit of insulting strong regional leaders. People of Tamil Nadu would not forget how Kamaraj was humiliated and insulted by the Congress. What was his crime? He spoke for people and democracy. He spoke against dynasty and corruption. The Congress got a democratically elected Government under MGR dismissed,” said the Prime Minister.
