Priyanka Gandhi praised her father and former Prime Minister, late Rajiv Gandhi as well as her brother Rahul Gandhi for developing Amethi and challenged BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi to come and see the development works in Amethi which is better than Gujarat.
Priyanka, who was campaigning in her brother’s constituency on Wednesday said, “Rahul has carried out development works in your constituency with fore sight. He has also helped the youth here get employment. Rahul wants to fulfill the dreams of our father Rajiv Gandhi,” she said.
“Modi should come to Amethi to see the development work which is far more better than Gujarat. Rahul has done a lot of work here, not because he wants to secure his political relationship but because you have given him a lot of love. Other people come here, they do not feel for you. They come here just because it is Rahul’s constituency,” she asserted. She also said the credit must go to her father late Rajiv Gandhi who brought telecom revolution. “There are mobile phones in your hands. Some credit must go to Rajivji for the same,” she said.
Priyanka, however, blamed the SP Government for the bad condition of roads and poor electricity supply. The State Government should be held responsible as the Centre has sanctioned enough funds, but they did not care to utilise it in Amethi,” she said while replying to the frequent complaints of the local people about the bad roads and poor electricity in the area. Priyanka addressed couple of meetings during her campaigning in Amethi on Wednesday and even went for a 1.5 kilometers long padyatra to woo the voters.
Priyanka will continue her campaigning for Rahul in Amethi for the third consecutive day on Thursday also. She will address seven small public meetings and will go for padyatra from Tiloi to Fhursatganj, on Thursday. She will start her campaign from Kasimpur and will address meetings at Shahmau, Shankerganj, Raja Fatehpur, Shivratanganj and Simrauta.
