Amar Singh rejoining SP?

The ruling Samajwadi Party did not rule out rejoining of expelled party leader Amar Singh though a final decision would be taken by party president Mulayam Singh Yadav.

“Amar Singh is our family member and his meeting with Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and the party president is nothing new,” said UP PWD Minister and SP general secretary Shivpal Singh Yadav here on Friday.

Talking to reporters Yadav said the final decision would be taken by the party president himself. “The ball is in the court of Netaji. Whatever decision he takes will be binding on us,” he said.

Earlier, there was speculation that Singh is likely to re-join the party very soon after he met the CM twice during the last four days. Singh also met Mulayam Singh early this week.

A section of the leaders in the party including Azam Khan are against Singh re-joining the Samajwadi Party. When asked Shivpal Singh said that there could be difference of opinion but no one in is above Netaji.

He said he had not spoken to Amar Singh personally about his re-joining of the Samajwadi Party.

Meanwhile, Shivpal was critical on the role of the Centre for ignoring the plight of UP. “The condition of the national highway is bad but the Centre is not giving funds to the State for its repairs. Against UP’s demand for `200 crore the Centre has sent a meagre amount of `3 crore for repairs of the national highways,” he claimed.

The UP Minister also deplored the act of Maharastra Government for making Marathi language compulsory for taxi drivers in Mumbai and at other places.

“This act of BJP Government in Maharastra is against the Constitutional norms and it will affect the people of UP as most of the taxi drivers are from this State,” he added.

Earlier, one Ajay Agarwal, nephew of SP MlC Sarojni Agarwal of Meerut, joined the SP in presence of Shivpal along with his supporters.
