The much-neglected alternative Indian System of Medicine may be soon used for treatment of vector-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue in the country. Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Wednesday while acknowledging the supremacy of Ayurveda said that he would instruct the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy to involve the synergies already available to treat the diseases which are likely to rise during the monsoon.
Harsh Vardhan after a meeting with the Health Ministers of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and lt Governor of Delhi to review preparation against the vector-borne diseases, asked them to take up malaria and dengue prevention on a war footing in the coming monsoon months.“Prevention of this tragedy is easy only if the prevention protocol is implemented with commitment and monitored personally by the highest officials aggressively and pro-actively,” he stated, adding that accountability must be fixed at all levels.
