After two meetings with UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who is also his nephew, in the last 48 hours, senior Minister Shivpal Yadav said that there was no dispute within the family over any political or administrative issue.
“Akhilesh Yadav is the CM and I am a Minister and we work under the principle of collective responsibility. There is no dispute on any issue and if there is something, it would be sorted out amicably,’’ said Shivpal Yadav after his marathon 90-minute parley with Akhilesh Yadav at the latter’s official residence in lucknow on Friday.
Claiming that all was well within the party and the Government, Shivpal Yadav said, “I was troubled by certain issues, as despite repeated directives no action was taken against land-grabbing. Officers in police stations and Tehsils were neck deep in corruption. I have spoken to the CM and those involved will soon face the music.’’
“I do not know who is conspiring against me. If Netaji has talked about the conspiracy, then he will fix the problem. All I can say is that there is no discord within the family and the party on any issue,’’ he said.
Asked whether the impasse between him and his nephew had been resolved, Yadav retorted, “There was no deadlock. Where is the need of resolving it.’’
On the contentious Qaumi Ekta Dal-Samajwadi Party merger, he said that a final call would be taken on this by party president Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Without naming anybody Shivpal Yadav said, “There are some who are trying to sow seeds of dissension within the family but they will never succeed and instead face action.’’
SP sources said that Akhilesh Yadav had called on Shivpal Yadav on Thursday and held a long meeting. “The visit by the CM to his uncle’s residence had more to do with Rakhi as Shivpal’s daughter ties Rakhi to Akhilesh. By visiting the CM’s resdence, Shivpal has reinforced the moral authority and official position of the CM,’’ said a SP leader.
