On Diwali, around Rs 10 crore fireworks smoke blew in the environment which includes the possibility of fireworks worth 8 crore rupees in the city itself. The elders also set off fireworks with the children. People enjoyed the colorful fireworks. The noise of firecrackers kept echoing till late at night.

For more than two decades, Exhibition ground has the city's only cracker market and this year 200 shops  got licenses which are 50 less than last year, but from the city to the village, unlicensed shops also sold a lot of fireworks. According to the people, fireworks worth about Rs 10 crore have been sold from all these shops. The fireworks market in Atrauli, Harduaganj were also buzzing. The city also witnessed a rush of buyers from wholesalers. On Diwali, a single person bought fireworks ranging from 5 to 15 thousand rupees.

The fireworks started bursting from the evening itself. The noise of firecrackers echoed throughout the night in Kwarsi, Ramghat Road, Sasni Gate, Etah Chungi, Sarsaul, Railway Road, Mahavirganj, Dehligate, Swarna Jayanti Nagar, Madar Gate, Gular Road, Masudabad. Even before the Deepotsav, government, administration and voluntary organizations had appealed to fire fewer firecrackers or avoid fireworks for environmental protection, but this appeal did not work. The administration had allowed fireworks from eight to ten o'clock at night, but people did not follow it. The amount of pollution from fireworks increased significantly.

In several districts including Gautam Budh Nagar, Bulandshahar, Hapur, Agra, the NGT had banned the sale of fireworks in view of pollution but according to sources, fireworks were also sent from these districts to Aligarh.
