Al Qaeda wooing youth by misquoting Prophet

The terror group Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) is not only distorting historical facts but also misrepresenting the teachings of Prophet Mohammad to further its recruitment agenda within the gullible section of the Muslim youth as part of its global efforts to carry out jehad for establishment of the Caliphate, said officials in the security establishment.

Amir of the AQIS ‘Maulana’ Aasim Umar, alias Sana-ul-Haq, had recently issued an 11-page propaganda material titled, “Why is there no storm in your oceanIJ A message for Muslims of India”, in which the Sambhal (UP) resident seeks to concoct historical facts like battles of Shamili and Balakot (now in Pakistan).

The AQIS document has also put forth outlandish claims quoting the Prophet like the Messenger obligates every Indian Muslim to carry out jehad and invade Al Hind (Indian Subcontinent). In the online propaganda material of the AQIS, Amir also claims that the Prophet had promised to the Ummah (Muslim community) the conquest of Al Hind (Indian Subcontinent).

The Prophet, the document claims, said, “Allah has saved two groups of my Ummah from the hellfire, the group that will invade Al Hind (Indian Subcontinent) and the group that will be with Eesa (AS) (Jesus), the son of Mariam.”

The document claims that it is narrated on account of Abu Hurrairah that the Prophet also said, “The Messenger of Allah promised us the conquest of Al Hind (the Subcontinent). If I am able to join it, I will spend on it my wealth and my life. If I am killed, I will be the best of martyrs and if I return, I will be Abu Hurrairah, the freed one (from hellfire).”

Al Qaeda chief Ayman-al-Zawahari had on September 13, 2014 appointed Umar as the Amir of the AQIS with directions to establish a network and perpetuate the jehadi agenda in the Indian Subcontinent.

Distorting facts surrounding the historical battles of Balakot (1831) and Shamili (1857), the AQIS said in the propaganda material, “Is there no successor left of the group that drenched itself in blood at Balakot, who possesses the spirit of rising in rebellion against a system based on disbelief and offering one’s life for AllahIJ Is there not a single mother in Uttar Pradesh who may sing those lullabies to children after listening to which they grow up to stage the battleground of Shamili instead of heading to bazaars, parks and playing fieldsIJ”

While the Muslims had fought the British regime in the Battle of Shamili, the local Muslims had roped in the Sikh Army to fight against the ruling Muslim elite of Balakot led by Shah Ismail Shaheed due to his atrocities on the people under his rule. The Sikh Army liquidated him in the battle. likewise, Mahmud al Hassan, who was given the title of Shaykh al Hind (Shyakh of India) by the Central Khilafat Committee, was said to be very active against the British Empire.

In further misrepresentation of history, the AQIS goes on to exhort Muslims to rise for jehad saying, “Have the successors of Shaykhul Hind discarded emigration and Jihad foreverIJ Has the land of Bihar become so barren that it is unable to prepare even a single group of the likes of the Mujahideen of AzeemabadIJ Which infidel’s evil glance has afflicted the land of Bengal that history is yet to witness another Siraj ud DaulaIJ The Muslims of southern India, it seems, have totally forgotten those words of the lion of Mysore which still cause the infidels to tremble in fear. What has afflicted the land of Gujarat, where the cries of Takbeer were raised against Kufr and Shirk, that today although the cries of Takbeer are still being raised, but Somnath does not tremble in fearIJ

“These are the questions that a student of history must rightfully ask the Muslims of India,” the AQIS further said in the propaganda material.

On a question if Prophet Mohammad had ever exhorted the Muslims to invade India, Public Relations Officer of the Daroolurool Deoband Ashraf Usmani told The Pioneer, “There is no Hadith in which Prophet Mohammad has ever exhorted the community to attack India. Whosoever is claiming as such is weak.”

Usmani further said, “Quoting the Hadith without any authenticity is not an ideal position in Islam. Muslim youth who understands the soul of Islam will never ever approve or support acts of atrocities or terrorism in any manner. We believe that people will not be misguided by such propaganda wherever the light of Islamic knowledge is there.”

Officials in the security establishment said the propaganda material has been especially designed to seek recruitment from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Gujarat and the southern Indian States. It only indicates the desperation on the part of AQIS as a number of the outfit’s modules have been busted by the security agencies in the recent months and they are finding it hard to enlist the youth for the dicey jehadi agenda, official added.
