Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has urged the Election Commission of India to make special arrangements for free and fair conduct of elections to the UP Legislative Council seats from local body constituencies.
He said special measures by the ECI were necessary for maintaining the credibility of the elections.
“Obvious questions are being raised on the credibility of the elections and the intention of the ruling party as the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders are claiming to win all 36 seats.
For transparency and credibility of the polls it is imperative for the Election Commission of India to take special measures for free and fair conduct of the elections,” said Akhilesh Yadav.
