Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has demanded a CBI probe into the bribe charges against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath’s principal secretary saying the issue is serious and it should be probed thoroughly.
“It is unfortunate that the whistle blower who had raised the issue has been arrested by the police while there is no action, not even a probe against the accused,” Yadav said while addressing reporters here on Friday.
Questioning the Yogi Adityanath Government’s role on the reported arrest of Abhishek Gupta, who had complained about the bribe sought by a senior Government officer, Yadav told media persons on Friday that a CBI probe could bring out the truth into the charges.
“The reported arrest of Abhishek, who had complained against the officer, shows how the police and the Government are working. The arrest was one-sided, even without any probe. As per the law, both the people who demand and give bribe, are punishable under the law,” he said.
The former UP CM said that several BJP MlAs and even the ministers have charged that the officials are taking bribe openly and the CM was doing nothing and now the Abhishek Gupta incident has proved that the entire administration has crumbled.
“The corruption charges against the top officer of the CM secretariat has vindicated the opposition charge of large scale irregularities in the state, in the present BJP regime,” he said.
Yadav also questioned the corruption portal launched by the government and its use. “The Government claims there is no such complaint made on this portal, but we have specific information that most of the time, the portal is closed, so how can people lodge their complaintIJ” he asked.
The SP president has also questioned the action on the District Magistrates of Gonda and Fatehpur on Thursday. “ When the illegal mining is rampant in several districts, action against these two DMs shows that the BJP government has ignored the real problem of illegal mining and was punishing the IAS officers for not fault,” he said.
Reacting to the death of patients at Kanpur and lucknow due to mismanagement of officials, the SP chief said the health system in the state is in a bad state and people were being denied treatment. “The free ambulance system has collapsed and people are not getting the facilities launched by our Government, “ Yadav said.
“The Government has not taken any lesson from the Gorakhpur incident, where several children died due to lack of oxygen. The incident in Kanpur was a glaring example, where five people died due to AC failure while in lucknow, strike at the King George Medical University (KGMU) resulted in death of three children on Thursday,” he said
