Akhilesh clears air on misuse of Govt funds

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav contradicted the charges of the BJP and other Opposition parties on misuse of Government funds during the Samajwadi Party’s National Convention starting here from Wednesday.

“The entire preparation and the funds used for the purpose were generated by the leaders themselves and the party. The 25-feet statue of late Janeshwar Mishra was also funded by the party,’’ he told reporters here. Yadav said the SP has always opposed misuse of funds for statues by the previous BSP Government. “Now, how can we do so by using government funds for the statue of Janeshwar Mishra,’’ he stated.

The Chief Minister also stated that all the senior leaders of the party will attend the three-day national convention but refused to disclose the names. Commenting on the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Yadav junior, who is also the president of the State unit of the party, said the party will win more Assembly seats in this elections.

Earlier, State BJP leaders have alleged that the State Government was misusing the Government funds to the tune of over Rs 100 crore for SP’s National Convention to be held in the State Capital.

Uttar Pradesh Congress also criticised the Government for allowing SP’s cadre to paste posters on walls, dig put holes all through VVIP lohia path just to erect hoardings etc, besides large scale misuse of the Government machinery to make the programme successful.

“Entire Government machinery has been pushed into action to make SP’s convention successful and no one is having concern with the safety of the common man resulting into wave of sensational crimes and communal clashes in last two days”, alleged spokesman of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, Ashok Singh.
