Amid the electoral heat, non-bailable warrants have been issued against three leaders; a Telangana MlA, one sitting MlA from Belaganj and RJD candidate from the same seat and another is Bihar president of Samajwadi Party.
The arrest warrant for All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has been issued by the SP of Kishanganj for his provocative speech. The courts have issued non-bailable warrants against RJD candidate Surendra Yadav for his bid to threat and extort a contractor. Another court
issued warrant against Bihar SP president Ram Chandra Yadav on charges against him for selling party tickets. The two Yadavs are absconding.
Telangana MlA Akbaruddin Owaisi, younger brother of MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, had been booked for his provocative speech on October 4 at a high school ground in Kochadhaman block and a case No 159/15 was registered against him with the Kochadhaman police. The Kochadhaman BDO Mritunjay Kumar had filed the case accusing Owaisi of using objectionable language for certain politicians, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and hurting the religious sentiments. Kishanganj SP Rajiv Ranjan said, “The charges leveled against Owaisi were examined with the video recording of his speech and the allegations against him were found true. A non bailable arrest warrant has been issued against him and he would be arrested once he visits Kishanganj district.”
Cases under Section 188, 153A, 171C of IPC and 125 of Peoples’ Representation Act have been slapped against Owaisi, who in 2013 had been jailed for provocative speech against one community in Adilabad in Telangana and now on bail. He could face one year imprisonment on the charges filed against him.
RJD MlA Surendra Yadav, also a former Minister, is accused of phoning a Patna-based contractor of water resources department Arun Kumar and threatening him of dire consequences for bidding contract. Police found the mobile number from which threatening call was made belonging to Yadav. A lower court issued non-bailable warrant against him. Since then Yadav is absconding and has filed petition for anticipatory bail. Yadav’s election campaign is now been handled by his wife Meena Yadav who claimed that charges against her husband were baseless and politically motivated.
Patna SSP Vikas Vaibhav said a Patna police team has been dispatched to Gaya and Belaganj to arrest RJD candidate and raids were conducted at his residences and other possible hideouts.
Bihar SP president Ramchandra Yadav and secretary Rajesh Kumar are accused of cheating a ticket aspirant form Tekari in Gaya Kumar Venkateshwar and extorting Rs 10 lakh from him. The police investigated the case and traced that the money was deposited in the bank account of the two.
Venkateshwar had field FIR with Shastrinagar police in Patna. SSP Vaibhav said a police team under City SP (Central) Chandan Kushwaha and order issued to all the police stations in Patna district for the arrest of the duo.
However, on Wednesday the session court stayed the arrest of Ram Chandra Yadav. Samajwadi MP Kiranmoy Nanda accused CM Nitish Kumar and RJD chief lalu Prasad of hatching conspiracy to implicate Yadav.
