Ajit Jogi urges EC to disqualify former FM Chidambaram from RS

Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and Chhattisgarh Janata Congress (CJC) founder Ajit Jogi urged the Election Commission to disqualify former Union Minister P Chidambaram from the Rajya Sabha for committing perjury in the election affidavits.

In his letter to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Achal Kumar Joti, Jogi said that Chidambaram had hidden details of his wife Nalini's shares in Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys limited (IMFA), a company owned by Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Baijayant Panda.

In the last three election affidavits, Chidambaram had hidden this information, said Jogi and sought Chidambaram 's disqualification from the Rajya Sabha.

MP from Odisha, Baijayant Panda admitted that Nalini Chidambaram holds shares of his company the Indian Metals &Ferro Alloys ltd, but the same was not declared by Chidambaram in his election affidavits, Jogi added.

He also alleged that Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram have misused the 'office of the Union Finance Minister' to help companies like Ortel Communications owned by Panda to get FIPB approvals.
