After being in and out of hospitals in Mumbai and Goa for more than three weeks, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is presently at the lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, will be heading for the US for further treatment on Tuesday night, a statement issued by the Chief Ministers Office said on Wednesday.

"As advised by doctors at lilavati, Mumbai, Chief Minister leaving  tonight to USA for further treatment," the statement issued late on Tuesday night said.

Parrikar in a video message on Monday, had asked Goan's to pray for his well-being, while also hinting that he might be away for a few weeks for treatment.

Parrikar was first admitted to the lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on February 15, where he was diagnosed for "mild pancreatitis", according to the CMO.

Soon after his return to Goa on February 22, when he also delivered a short budget speech in the State legislative Assembly, Parrikar was admitted to the Goa Medical College near Panaji, after he complained of dehydration and low blood pressure, according to his office. After his discharge last week, he was recuperating at his private residence, before he was shifted to lilavati Hospital again on Monday.

Parrikar has already appointed a three-Minister committee to run administration-related affairs and has assured that he would be conducting cabinet meetings via video conference.
