The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed AIIMS to constitute a medical board to examine a minor girl who was allegedly raped by a retired Air Force officer in Noida two months ago.

The girl’s mother, a resident of the Sector 20 Noida slums, had approached the apex court demanding an independent probe into the case complaining that the UP Police did a shoddy probe on her complaint and even threatened her to compromise. The accused, who secured bail within a day after arrest, is a retired Air Commodore, who raped the girl on the pretext of being a doctor at a charitable clinic where she came for an operation in her foot.

The incident occurred on October 14, when the girl accompanied by her grandfather reached Sai Charitable Trust in Sector 20 Noida to remove an iron nail inserted in her foot. The accused was present in the clinic and took the girl inside for treatment.

He bolted the door from inside after asking the grandfather to wait outside. Hearing shrieks of the girl, the grandfather who was joined by the girl’s mother forced the door to be opened and saw the victim profusely bleeding from her private parts. The petition by the victim’s mother, argued by advocate Sarvesh Bisaria accused UP Police of a slipshod probe and sought an independent probe in the matter. The bench headed by Justice SJ Mukhopadhaya issued notice on the petition to the UP Police seeking their response.
