Responding to the Central Government's suggestion to finalise locations for the proposed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the Gujarat Government has come to the decision to allot land at either Rajkot or Vadodara.

The State Health Minister Nitin Patel during a function announced that the Gujarat Government has decided to allot land for the prestigious medical institute either in Vadodara or Rajkot. He however said that the State Government's role is limited up to allotment of 200 acre land. The construction, operation and administration of proposed AIIMS will be handled by the Centre, he added. AIIMS will bring at least 1000-bed State-of-the-art medical facility and research Center in Gujarat.
