'AIADMK, DMK & Cong steeped in corruption'

In a scathing attack on the AIADMK and the DMK, Amit Shah, BJP national president, said on Wednesday that the two Dravidian parties have been looting Tamil Nadu for the last 50 years and the State has seen no development during their alternate regimes. “It is time for the people of Tamil Nadu to vote for a change. They should vote for the BJP so that the State would see unprecedented development schemes and programmes which has been unleashed by the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre,” said Shah while addressing a mammoth rally at Pattukottai in Thanjavur district.

The BJP chief pointed out that the Congress which has allied with the DMK was equally corrupt and listed the number of corruption charges against the party. “The DMK and the Congress are partners in looting the nation. The 2G Spectrum Scam, the Aircel-Maxis deal are sufficient proofs of the corruption and misdeeds perpetrated by the DMK and the Congress,” charged Shah.

He said the AIADMK was no different from the DMK-Congress combine. “The AIADMK is steeped in massive corruption. There are charges of corruption against the AIADMK Government in milk procurement and sand mining,” said the BJP president.

Shah lambasted the AIADMK Government for misusing the Central funds sanctioned by the Prime Minister immediately after the December 2015 floods which ravaged Chennai and suburbs. “Prime Minister Modi made an aerial survey of the flood hit areas and sanctioned Rs2,000 crore as relief to the State. But the Tamil Nadu Government used this fund to distribute

Rs5,000 each as relief to the flood victims by stamping its name on it,” said Shah. He said the State Government should have used this fund to develop and reconstruct the infrastructure which were damaged and destroyed in the floods.

The BJP chief came down heavily on the free-rice scheme of the AIADMK Government. “The Centre is making rice available to the State at subsidised rates but the State government is claiming the credit by naming it as Amma rice,” said Shah.

Striking a chord with the people of Tamil Nadu, Shah pointed out that because of the steps initiated by the Narendra Modi government, the attacks on the fishermen from the State by the Sri lankan Navy has come down. “During the last two years there is no single incidence of firing on Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri lankan Navy while fishing in high seas,” he said.

He exhorted the people to elect the BJP candidates in this election as the fight was between the politics of development and corruption. “Only BJP could usher in development in Tamil Nadu. Give the party a chance to serve you and elevate the quality of your life to new heights,” he said.
