BJP leader and Bhagalpur MP Syed Shahnawaz Hussain was on the hit-list of terror outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM), said police officials on Tuesday. The other two State BJP leaders Sushil Modi and Giriraj Singh have been facing threat from Maoists in the State.

The Union Home Ministry has communicated to the State police headquarters that BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain has threat from terror outfit Indian Mujahideen. His threat perception is after the BJP’s PM candidate, Narendra Modi. “Yes, we’ve been communicated from the Union Home Ministry regarding this and we’re taking all the necessary precautions,” said a State police official.

Recently, during the BJP’s Hunkar Rally in Patna in which Gujarat Chief Minister was the star speaker, IM had triggered a series of bomb blasts killing six people. Shahnawaz is a BJP spokesperson and a party MP from Bhagalpur. He has been visiting Bihar and his constituency on regular interval. Sources in the police headquarters said that the Union Home Ministry has alerted Bihar police regarding IM threat to the BJP leader last month.

Of late, both the BJP leaders have been cornering the Nitish Government for being soft on Maoists and terrorists in the State.
