Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel will resume Chintan Shibir, an annual brainstorming exercise specially designed for senior Government functionaries, after a gap of four years.
Chintan Shibir was the idea of Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was the Chief Minister in order to make the State administration efficient and proactive. Chintan Shibir is designed for top State functionaries, including Chief Minister, Council of Ministers, secretaries, collectors and DDOs.
“The three-day brainstorming will be conducted from May 28 to 30. The venue will be decided very soon,” said a senior official of the State General Administration Department (GAD). Traditionally, it is held at different locations away from the State capital Gandhinagar, where the Ministers and officials travel together in a bus, perform Yoga every morning before going for the brainstorming session, said the official, adding that the Anandiben Government is considering one of the three probable venues -- Gandhinagar, Vadodara or Bharuch.
It was in 2003 when the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi decided to turn the annual meetings confined to district collectors into a brainstorming exercise between Ministers and officials. It became an annual feature of the Modi Government till the year 2011. The Administrative Reforms & Training Division (ARTD) of General Administration Department (GAD) will organise the Shibir.
Effective implementation of Gujarat CM’s Gatisheel Gujarat initiative is expected to be the main subject of discussion, said as source in the Chief Minister’s office (CMO). Besides, implementation of the Government of India’s initiative like digital India, cleanliness drive and eradication of malnutrition in the State would be the other subjects of brainstorming.
Apart from the CM and her Council of Ministers, nearly 200 top State functionaries including secretaries, collectors and District Development Officers will participate in the Shibir.
