Even as he gets ready to launch a political career, veteran actor Kamal Haasan suffered two setbacks for his comments on recent political developments. The Madras HC on Wednesday asked the Tamil Nadu Police to register an FIR against the actor after ascertaining whether some of the statements issued by him were cognisable in nature.

On Thursday, Kamal Haasan announced that he would make an important announcement on November 7, which happens to be his 63rd birthday.

Haasan had ridiculed through social media the Tamil Nadu Government’s efforts to distribute Nilavembu, a herbal concoction for treating dengue, which has claimed about 100 lives all over the State. Haasan had asked his fans not to distribute Nilavembu among the people and not to consume the same as he feared about the side effects of the medicine.

In another tweet, Haasan had asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apologise to the people for the failure of the demonetisation. The actor who had supported the PM for the bold decision immediately after the announcement in 2016 made a vault face and  apologised to the people for his support to a decision “which caused severe hardship for the common man”.

Nilavembu and demonetisation has put the aspiring politician in Kamal Haasan, a school dropout, in a sticky wicket  according to political watchers in Tamil Nadu.
