After Bihar video, CRPF warns jawans against griping on social media

The Central Reserve Police Force on Thursday directed its units to give strict instructions to jawans and staffers against sharing their concerns in the social media, after a jawan from Bihar posted a video blaming the “wrong policies” of the Government in the wake of the Sukma attack. The jawan, Pankaj Mishra, claimed one of his relatives was martyred in the Maoist attack.

Though the CRPF Head Quarters did not come out with any official statement on the posting of the video, indications are that the “errant” jawan may face action. Recently, the BSF terminated the service of Tej Bahadur Yadav for posting videos criticising the paramilitary’s food quality.

Mishra, posted in West Bengal, is a relative of Abhay Kumar who lost his life in the Naxal attack. In the video, uploaded in the morning, Mishra blamed the slow pace of policy implementation including the style of functioning of Home Minister Rajnath Singh. He said most of the VIPs including BJP president Amit Shah is protected by CRPF and the jawans were not taken care properly by the leadership.

CRPF officers said that the jawan was frustrated and was under depression due to his relative soldier’s death. He later removed the video from social media.
