less than a week after veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan consented to be the Tiger Ambassador for Maharashtra, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has offered to promote the tiger conservation and tourism cause in the State.
In his response to a request made by State Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar to him and the veteran Bollywood actor to be Tiger Ambassadors for Maharashtra, Sachin — in a letter written to the latter — showed keenness and wanted the State Government “to share details of the expectations from him in the capacity of tiger Ambassador of the State and how he could promote the cause”.
“I compliment your team on the efforts being undertaken for Project Tiger and would be happy to meet you to discuss this. I have always been concerned about tiger conservation and distinctly remember dedicating one of my Test centuries, during my playing days, to increase awareness of the cause. I request you to kindly share details of the expectations from me in the capacity of tiger Ambassador of the State and how I can promote the cause,” Sachin stated in a letter written to Mungantiwar.
Informed official sources that Mungantiwar would write to Sachin in the coming days, setting up a date of meeting between him and the legendary cricketer for a discussion regarding the agreement.
