Following his elevation as BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi will first time appear publicly in Gujarat with his mentor and former Deputy Prime Minister lK Advani on Wednesday.
Advani, who is also an MP from Gandhinagar, is visiting his constituency to inaugurate gardens developed on Sarbarmati Riverfront Project. A 1.2-km stretch of the riverfront on the east and the west banks will be thrown open by them on Wednesday.
The two giant leaders of the BJP were supposed to meet in the State last month in a meeting of Somnath Trust. However, Advani couldn’t attend the meeting. The veteran leader couldn’t come for the inauguration of the new elevated BRTS flyover in September. Sources said that dates for the next meeting of Sri Somnath Trust would also be decided on Wednesday. Apart from Advani, former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel and Narendra Modi are also trustees of the trust.
Though BJP leaders in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation invited him for the inauguration, somehow, he didn’t come and they had to drop the idea of grand inauguration ceremony of the flyover in which they wanted Modi-Advani duo to remain present. However, the bridge was inaugurated in a simple ceremony by Ahmedabad Mayor Minakshi Patel.
