Published on:

Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien has called upon the global community to adopt the Gandhian method of non-violence to bring about a sustainable, peaceful and democratic world order.

leading the Indian delegation to Geneva for the 130th assembly of Inter Parliamentary Union, Kurien reminded the world community that in spite of the concerted efforts of the global bodies and the democratic thinkers, democracy still remains a cherished dream and peace an ever-elusive mirage in different parts of the world.

Observing that authoritarianism characterises governance in several countries, he said in his address to the international community on Tuesday a Gandhian approach is the only way for a permanent and sustainable solution to the problems the world is confronted with, a Rajya Sabha press communiqué issued here on Wednesday said.  Others MPs of the delegation include H K Dua, Balbir Punj and Anu Aga besides Rajya Sabha Secretary General Shumsher K.
