Activists owing allegiance to Shiva Prathishtan on Thursday took out a morcha to the district collector’s office at Sangli in western Maharashtra demanding withdrawal of offences registered against Sambhaji Bhide.
In a memorandum submitted to Sangli district collector Vijay Kalam, a delegation of Shiva Prathishtan condemned the allegations made by senior Dalit leader and Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh president Prakash Ambedkar against Bhide and Hindu Ekta Aghadi leader Milind Ekbote for their alleged role in the attack on Dalits at Bhima-Koregaon, and demanded the withdraw of offences registered against Bhide under Section 302 of IPC.
The Pimpri police have registered an FIR against Ekbote and Bhide in connection with the disturbances at Bhima-Koregaon. Based on a complaint registered by a Dalit woman, the police have also registered offences against Bhide and Ekbote under the Atrocities Act and other sections of the IPC.
