Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday denied allegations levelled against his Government for protecting tainted chief engineer of Noida Authority Yadav Singh and said that action would be taken against him once Income Tax (IT) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) find him guilty.
“My Government is not saving anyone but is waiting for the report from the IT and ED as they are bigger institutions than the UP Government,” he told reporters. When a reporter sought to know why the Government has not suspended the officer after the IT raid in which more than Rs100 crore of diamonds and cash were seized, Chief Minister asked him if the Government in the past has taken any such action against any officer without a report.
The CM also said why the media did not raise the matter of Yadav Singh previously, if they thought the Government had done wrong in reinstating him after suspension in 2012.The CM refused to make any comment on the U-turn made by Muslim plaintiff Hasim Ansari, who has advocated construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya. “This is not appropriate time to comment on the vexed issue,” he said.
