Unidentified miscreants struck terror in Meerut by throwing acid on three female members of a family, causing serious injuries late on Tuesday night. The victims were admitted to a primary health centre in Mawana.
The police after registering a case, are working on all probably motives especially on the Rsjilter lover’ theory as youths were involved and one of the victims had spurned a youth. The cops were also scanning call detail records (CDRs) of the victims's mobile numbers to get a lead. Two of the suspects have been detained for quizzing.
As per reports, 18-year-old Zareena (name changed), of Mohalla Saheed Bhagat Singh in Phalwda Police station area was sleeping on the terrace along with her sisters-in-law Fatima (20) and Zubeda (25) on Tuesday night.
A little past midnight, all three suddenly woke up after feeling a burning sensation on their faces and body parts. They screamed for help, after which other family members rushed to their rescue. Taking advantage of the chaos, the miscreants jumped off and escaped.
