Accused in rape videos identified, will be nabbed soon: CBI to SC

The CBI informed Supreme Court on Friday that the accused in the eight videos uploaded on social media that showed graphic clips of their sexual crime have been identified and will be arrested soon. However, the agency is finding it hard to trace the source server from which the obnoxious clips were uploaded on Youtube. Following a blank lead of just a video clip, some which were shot almost two years back, the CBI submitted a status report in Court stating that in six out of the eight FIRs involving sexual crimes, investigation is on and culprits are under surveillance. In one case, Additional Solicitor General Maninder Singh informed Court that Uttar Pradesh police had arrested three boys who were out on bail as FIR contained lenient charges. The bench of Justices Madan B lokur and UU lalit allowed the case to be transferred from UP Police to CBI, so that rape charge can be lodged against the trio. SC directed a fresh status report from CBI on April 10 and directed Chief Secretary of Odisha to remain present for non-representation of the State in the matter for the second consecutive time.
