AAP to have 40 manifestos for 40 Goa constituencies

The AAP in Goa will come up with 40 different election manifestos for the State's 40 constituencies which are scheduled to go to poll in early 2017, a senior party leader said on Tuesday.

Speaking to The Pioneer, chief spokesperson of the Aam Aadmi Party in Goa, Dr Oscar Rebello said that the manifestos were being put together for every constituency, on the basis of inputs received by the party during the ‘Goa Dialogues’, an interactive process with the electorate, which he said was kicked off three months back.

“The AAP will have one comprehensive election manifesto which will contain our vision for the State. There will be 40 other manifestos, one each for every constituency in Goa. The 40 manifestos are being prepared separately based on the needs and demands of people living in each of these constituencies,” Rebello said.

Styled after the Delhi Dialogues, the Goa Dialogues process was kicked off formally by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal during his visit to the state in June.

AAP leaders, including Kejriwal himself, Delhi's deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, Health minister Satinder Jain, etc over the last couple of months have hosted nearly 120 such 'Goa Dialogues' meets across the state and have interacted with groups of professionals, women, farmers, mining and tourism industry stakeholders, etc.

The sum of most of the conversations according to Rebello, is that corruption, had emerged as one of the most significant factor for the upcoming state legislative Assembly polls.

"Brazen corruption is the single largest issue which people are talking about today," Rebello said.  Apart from Punjab, Goa is the only other state in the country, where the AAP has decided to throw its hat into the electoral ring. But while Delhi chief minister and AAP founder Arvind Kejriwal has claimed that the party would win 35 out of 40 seats, in the state, even his own partymen in Goa do not share the optimism.

"Goa is certainly not Punjab. We may do well, but right now we are not in a position to sweep the state. In Punjab, AAP had been working for a longer time. Our MPs in Parliament are also from Punjab," an AAP leader said on condition of anonymity.

AAP has also not announced its chief ministerial candidate for Goa for the upcoming elections.
