The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has introduced yet another means to reach out to people through its digital platforms. Adding a new dimension to its ongoing ‘Delhi Wants Elections’ signature campaign, the party has now initiated an online campaign, inviting people to shoot their own “We want elections” appeal via video and send it to the party via email, WhatsApp or through the AAP website.
“These videos will be published without any editing on the AAP website and are being promoted via AAP’s social media channels so that the larger population can view these submissions,” said a senior AAP leader.By extensively using technology, the AAP aims to cash-in on the power of crowd-sourcing and creating an engagement with the voters. “We will also get a real voter feedback on the same,” the member added.
In the first few hours of the campaign being published on Tuesday night, over 1200 people watched these videos sent by various enthusiasts. The AAP social media team has set-up a special unit to upload the unedited videos and provide a feedback to the party leadership. The party is of the view that this direct connect will help the party in assessing the public mood and will also let the larger population get a sense of the public opinion in the national Capital.
“The online campaign will be run for the entire duration of the door-to-door signature campaign and based on the outcome from this campaign - the video submission technology will be used in future campaigns to supplement user feedback for party’s political programmes and awareness campaigns,” said another member of the party.
